Your task is to analyze one of each of the types of Special Occasion Speeches we discussed and defined. Look for ones you can read along as you hear and or see it presented. If you can't find some on your own, use this website we used during our Historical Speech unit: American Rhetoric.
As you listen, analyze the speech based on the following aspects, writing your response in complete sentences:
Label the type of speech it is.
Based on the definition and requirements of this particular type of speech, give specific references to the content as to how it fits the concepts of the speech.
What history of the event or person did you learn from this speech?
Identify at least four areas where the wording that is used helps to convey the emotion of the event. Write down direct quotations from the speech.
As far as how it was presented, how did the speaker's tone, inflections, and mannerisms (if you could watch it) help convey the meaning or purpose of the speech?
